Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago - 030105
Abstract Number: 030105
May 2003
Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago (LAFMC) and the Chicago Urban League published a report detailing the results of a two-year study investigating how race preferences affect suburban employment opportunities. This study used matched-pair testing to examine the hiring practices of retailers for entry-level management positions in stores located throughout suburban Chicago. The report documents and quantifies significant disparities in hiring practices and illustrates the barriers experienced by black job applicants attempting to enter into the expanding suburban retail sector. You may access the full report below as a PDF document as well as read brief biographies on each of LAFMC's employment testers.
