The University of Baltimore (UB) School of Law partnered with Legal Aid Bureau of Maryland and the Maryland Office of the Public Defender to develop the UB Public Interest Fellowship for law students.
The fellowship provides a forgiveable loan for the third year of law school, in exchange for a commitment to work in public service for a number of years.
Under the program, Legal Aid Bureau and the Maryland Office of the Public Defender will each choose a second-year student as a fellow, hire the students as summer interns and then, after graduation, place the new lawyers in staff positions for a minimum of three years.
