Mississippi Pro Bono Attorney Manual

Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project
Thursday, March 13, 2008

Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project and the Mississippi Center for Justice drafted a Mississippi Pro Bono Attorney Manual, in collaboration with thirteen law firms in Mississippi.

Each firm agreed to develop a substantive outline and practice tools that experienced lawyers can use even if a case is outside their area of expertise.

The manual covers the following areas, which are commonly encountered by volunteer attorneys:

  • Family law, including adoption, child custody, child and spousal support, child abuse and neglect, divorce, and domestic and spousal abuse
  • Expunctions
  • Guardianships and Conservatorships
  • Landlord/Tenant
  • Name Changes
  • Nonprofit Support Materials
  • Removal of Disability of Minority
  • Title to Heirship Property
  • Wills and Probate

The Mississippi Pro Bono Manual is available on, for attorneys who have joined the “Volunteer Resources” area
