Pursuant to their strategic plan, Community Legal Services (CLS) conducted an agency-wide self evaluation process to gather vital information regarding the impact its services had on the program's client communities. The self evaluation process used focus groups, telephone interviews and surveys in order to assess the views of CLS staff members, clients and communities. The focus groups had a study design, methodology and a set of goals. CLS also created focus group guidelines so that the focus groups could operate in an efficient way. The self evaluation process results were not only used to evaluate performance but also to assess client needs.
