"Innovative Fundraising Ideas for Legal Services 2004 - Edition"

ABA's Standing Committee on Legal Aid and Indigent Defendants Project to Expand Resources for Legal Services -  040051

Abstract Number: 040051

June 2004

The American Bar Association's (ABA) Standing Committee on Legal Aid and Indigent Defendants' Project to Expand Resources for Legal Services (PERLS) published "Innovative Fundraising Ideas for Legal Services 2004 - Edition" to provide legal services supporters with new strategies and approaches to increasing funding for the provision of legal services to low-income people. This manual was created for use by bar leaders and leaders in the legal services community. The manual explores 26 fundraising strategies and rates each strategy by its locale, the amount of revenue produced, amount of time invested, anticipated costs, level of staff involvement, and amount of work required for upkeep. PERLS has published three previous editions of this manual, the most recent in 1998. This manual was funded through a grant from the Open Society Institute. LSC purchased two copies of this manual for each of its grantees. The manual can also be accessed through the link below on the ABA's website as a PDF document.
