State Bar of California - 030167
Abstract Number: 030167
January 2004
The California Commission on Access to Justice published The Path to Equal Justice: A Five-Year Status Report on Access to Justice in California to provide readers with information detailing California's work on improving access to justice in California. The Path to Equal Justice Report was created to inform the public and government officials about the crucial role legal aid attorneys play in ensuring access to justice for low-income people and the modest costs invested in these services. Recognizing that great strides have been made in the previous five years, the report also outlines several goals for the immediate future that include increasing resources for legal services providers, increasing pro bono contributions, ensuring that courts and legal services providers can serve limited English proficient clients, and ensuring rural clients have meaningful access to legal services. Upon the publication of this report, the Access to Justice Commission initiated a media campaign to launch the report. Access the full report and a summary edition below as PDF documents.
