South Carolina Lawyer Mentoring Pilot Program

The South Carolina Bar is administrating a South Carolina Lawyer Mentoring Pilot Program.  Each person participating in the program will be required to have a mentor who has been an active member of the South Carolina Bar at least five years and is currently active or a retired member of the bar.

The pilot program intends to address specific areas such as:

• Issues of law practice management, including the handling of accounts;
• The importance of developing a personal and professional support network as a lawyer;
• An awareness of a lawyer's ethical responsibilities, including guidance for dealing with inappropriate behavior by others; 
• Guidance regarding professional education and public service responsibilities;
• An understanding of the professional responsibility and behavior in different areas of law practice;
• The importance of becoming involved in both professional and community activities outside your primary practice or employment; and
• An understanding of the importance of regular and open communication with clients and others.
