The National Center on Poverty Law assembled and published the Poverty Law Manual for the New Lawyer to provide essential information for new poverty law lawyers. This manual was written by an impressive group of legal services experts to ensure that new lawyers understand the legal problems facing their clients, know what the relevant resources are, and can view their work in a broader historical framework. The National Center on Poverty Law published three earlier manuals in 1989, 1991, and in 1993. The newest Poverty Law Manual for the New Lawyer is organized into the following chapters: Getting Started, Welfare, Administrative Hearings, Health, Other Public Benefits, Housing, Immigrants, Employment, Consumer, Holistic Practice, Family Law, Domestic Violence, Putting It All Together, and Additional Resources.
