Abstract Number: 020030

July 2002

In 2000, Legal Aid Services of Oregon (LASO) acquired grants from the Meyer Memorial Trust, Fannie Mae Foundation, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to hire three attorneys and a land use planner to create the Community Development Law Center (CDLC). CDLC provides legal services to non-profit organizations to develop and establish low-income housing in Oregon. CDLC's attorneys represent housing and economic development organizations in real estate acquisition, project financing, construction, land use, corporate transactions, and employment matters. CDLC also supports these organizations through trainings in areas such as land use planning, asset management, management practices, and housing finance. This joint effort between CDLC and LASO provides much needed legal assistance and support to affordable housing providers in Oregon. To learn more, visit CDLC's webpage at: http://www.cdlcweb.org/.
