Legal Aid Society of San Diego (LASSD) developed a PAI Program Document that includes details on the innovative ways LASSD operates its PAI Program.  This document was created in response to the 2007 LSC Program Letter 07-2 "Guidance to LSC Programs for the Development of Enhanced Private Attorney Involvement" which includes recommendations on how to involve the legal community in order to effectively run a PAI program and how to assist as many low-income individuals as possible. LASSD's PAI document discusses how LASSD meets four of the categories mentioned in the PAI letter.

LASSD's PAI document covers the following areas:

A. Using Large Law Firms, Corporate, and Government Attorneys
    1. Develop Sustained Relationships
    2. Look Beyond Geographical Boundaries
    3. Provide Training, Research and Technical Assistance
    4. Develop Signature Projects
    5. Pursue Transactional Work
    6. Collaborate and Co-Counsel
B. Using Small Firms, Solo Practitioners, and Judicare Attorneys 
    1. Provide Support for Practitioners
    2. Provide Screening of Cases
    3. Encourage Recruitment Incentives
    4. Use of Retired and Inactive Attorneys
C. Involving Law Schools and Law Students
    1. Involve Legal Clinics
    2. Instill Support for the Future
    3. Develop Research and Training Resources
    4. Collaborate and Partner
D. Involving the Judiciary, Bar Associations, Access to Justice Commissions, Community Organizations and Others
    1. Obtain the Support of Judiciary
    2. Encourage Bar Association Participation
    3. Seek Support from State Access to Justice Entities
    4. Partner with Community Organization 
    5. Integrate Technology
    6. Recognition
